
Mango season is here to stay, for a while at least until July end and if one gets lucky, sometimes even beyond. But Novotel Hyderabad Convention Centre played it smartly by hosting a fun session of mango mixing/pickling early in mango season in mid-May The venue: poolside green outdoors with the centre of attention being “Under the mango tree”, a pleasant sit out under a mango tree planted by a Novotel staffer a few years after its launch. This was the real deal, getting our hands dirty helping make some delicious Avakaya mixing the cut mango pieces in salt, red chilli powder and sesame oil, there was also some activated charcoal added which helps preserve the pickle even longer. We got to carry back our Avakaya too! And some mango marmalade which had been put out on a live counter for a demo too. All things mango, including mango martini’s, tres leches, sushi and a delicious mango Icecream served on a mango shell with Falooda and chia seeds featured on the high tea menu which followed the pickling session. There is a special global mango-themed menu for those interested in experiencing Under the Mango Tree until the mango is in season. We recommend you try it out, a sure-shot mood enhancer ! 💜
