
I have had my fair share of Parsi Bhonu (feasts) but this ongoing Parsi pop up @sheratonhyderabad curated by Mumbai-based Parsi chef couple Shernaaz and Tehtman Dumasia was distinct with a capital D! Firstly, chef Dumasia proved to be ths proverbial jolly good fellow with his warm and friendly nature, urging us to eat first and take pics later as experiencing ths “feast” on a banana leaf was all-important! The couple runs a hugely popular catering business in Mumbai which also caters to Bollywood, with the likes of SRK, Boman Irani and John Abraham. Also distinct were some of the dishes sampled, notably Chicken Cutlet with Gravy, Doodh Ma Cauliflower (simmered in milk, delish!), kid Gosht and the dessert Parsi Sev. Greedy me asked for my favorite Lagan Nu custard and we got it too ! The Mutton Dhansak was perfection incarnate, be it the shade of the dhansak gravy or the caramelised rice spiked with brista. Other notables were the Kid Gosht (mutton cooked in a creamy cashew-based gravy) and the Zardalu (apricot) Salli Murgh, with a tangy, zesty aftertaste. I was trying the dessert Parsi Sev for the first time, deep fried sevaiyan sautéed with generous doses of dried fruits, it was crisp, not too sweet and drop dead delicious! The pop up is on until Sunday August 24th at ths lobby level Feast for both lunch & dinner on a buffet format, with live counters. This is a feast worth booking your tables!
