Mekong is a well-regarded F&B brand in Hyderabad when it comes to the finest pan Asian food, right since its inception at the Marigold Hotels almost a decade ago. Recently, @avasahotels also added Mekong to its repertoire in place of their earlier pan Asian restaurant , Ohm also a personal favourite, especially since I had awarded it the best fine dining Asian debut on behalf of a media house food awards panel when it launched even before Mekong. I’m happy to report after a recent Lazy Sunday Brunch dining experience at Mekong 2.0 that it’s every bit as excellent as the original Mekong, be it its culinary finesse, plating aesthetics and impeccable service. Loved the sushi, especially the ebi (prawn) urumaki and salmon sushi but the most unexpected sushi was the okra one (separate post warranted!) Dimsums have always been an USP of Mekong and those didn’t disappoint either, especially the prawns hargow and the mushroom water chestnut as well as the edamame truffle dumplings. Satays ;tofu, chicken and fish) were perfect and that peanut sauce was 💜! But the casting coup was as always the Khow Suey, the undisputed reigning signature dish of @mekong_panasian and boy! Was worth every slurp of the creamy, aromatic and hearty bowl of soup which they serve thoughtfully with all possible accompaniments, Tres Bien! For desserts, an order of Tender Coconut Pudding is mandatory, trust me ! Cocktails were also well-crafted, I loved my citrusy G&T, forget the name, though! The Sunday Brunch begins at 11 am until 4 pm. It’s priced at ₹2203 plus taxes for the non alcoholic brunch and ₹2542 plus taxes for the liquid brunch.
