
Very few, me included, can resist the lovely open air poolside charm of Mazzo , the rooftop restaurant of @marriottexecutiveapartmentshyd and the added attraction of a Maharashtrian food pop up by home chef Swati Mawlankar was enough motivation to land there a recent evening. The experience, I’m happy to report, surpassed my expectations as chef Swati kept to the organic, unmuddled home style flavours intact and with the capable chefs team of Mazzo in a contemporary set up, albeit on a thali. My faves? The soft and spongy Kothmir Wadi , flaky PuranPoli, creamy shrikhand, crisp and spicy Sabudana Wada, Batata Wada, the green chilli-peanut thecha and delicious Konkani style prawns. The crowning glory of course was the absolutely scrumptious Modaks with the coconut jaggery filling and no wonder Swati is regarded somewhat of a modak queen in the Maharashtrian community of Hyderabad. The Kolhapuri mutton curry and masala Bhat though were a bit of underwhelming. Those who fancy Marathi flavours would be well advised to make a beeline towards Marriott Executive Apartments in Gachibowl, the pop up is on until Saturday January 10th.
