Just attended Dehradun's first-ever Bengali Supper Club, founded by Arpita and Indrajit @houseofaanch_ . The evening began with Fuchka and Jhalmuri served in a traditional thonga. One bite instantly transported me to Durga Pujo evenings with my mumma, hopping between pandals and indulging in Kolkata's favourite street foods. Next came Mutton Keema Ghugni, comforting, flavourful and best enjoyed with endless adda. The kind of dish that feels like a warm hug. The highlight of the evening was a trio of Cabin Style Fish Fry, Moghlai Porota and Shikanji. If you've explored Kolkata's iconic cabins and pice hotels, you'll know the nostalgia these dishes carry. House of Aanch recreated that feeling beautifully in my hill homeland. Then arrived the quintessential Chindian combo: Fried Rice and Chilli Chicken. Fun fact: Kolkata's Chinese community helped shape the Indo-Chinese flavours we know today, making Chilli Chicken an inseparable part of Bengali food culture. Like every memorable Bengali feast, the evening ended with Papad, Chutney and Mishti. The Mango Bhapa Doi was the standout dessert, while the homemade Nimki souvenir was a thoughtful reminder of the warmth of our hosts. More than a supper club, House of Aanch felt like an extended family.
