Everybody wants a time machine but very few of them realise they actually have it. So I jet set my time machine to Black Pepper Restaurant in Dehradun. It takes me back to the time when nostalgia breathed low AQI, happy kids rejoicing at Gandhi park and family brunch at Black Pepper. Tucked inside Astley Hall on Rajpur Road, this place carries that unmistakable old-world Dehradun aura, while still knowing how to keep pace with the present. What I particularly admired was how Black Pepper Restaurant has renovated their interiors now. The cave-like ceilings, warm lights, checkered table setups, wooden accents, and great music may project evolution for many but the soul of the place still leans into belongingness. Being one of the most revered fine-dining, multi-cuisine destination in the heart of Dehradun, and its longstanding popularity reflects to its food and the queue for a seat. Phew, mine took 30 minutes haha. The meal felt comforting and indulgent rather. The fried rice and chilli chicken brought that robust, satisfying Indo-Chinese punch that instantly settles the mood. I'm from Kolkata where Indian Chinese cuisine is born so I can tell you with a tincture of salt whether the place serves authentic cuisine. A gin must be celebrated complementing your food otherwise the chakras won't work. (Believe the glutton in me haha). The Kashmiri pulao arrived fragrant and celebratory, while the paneer (which my bestie gulped in before a picture) carried that rich, velvety depth which makes you slow down and actually enjoy every spoonful. Dehradun although is changing faster than I could ever imagine but certain places like this still preserves the grace. #Dehradun #FoodReview #DehradunFoodBlogger #Foodie #Uttarakhand [Black Pepper Dehradun, best restaurant in Dehradun, fine dining in Dehradun, Rajpur Road restaurants, Astley Hall Dehradun, heritage restaurants in Dehradun, Black Pepper restaurant review, Dehradun food blog, chilli chicken in Dehradun, fried rice chilli chicken dehradun, multi cuisine restaurant Dehradun]
