Getting to Purkul Cafe is a sight to behold with the alleys and valleys soothing your eyes. Nestled in a pristine valley between Dehradun and Mussoorie, this quaint little cafe feels like it belongs in a postcard. Hills all around, crisp mountain air, and views so unreal you’ll forget your phone password for a second. Depending on when you go, you can catch the winter line, sunrise, or sunset. I went post-lunch and were blessed with a golden-hour sunset that honestly made my day. After some selfies and twirling around, what arrived on table was Chicken Sukuti - a traditional Nepali delicacy, perfectly smoky, tender, and packed with deep, earthy flavours. Every bite felt rustic, comforting, and bold at the same time. If this dish could talk, it would say, “You’ve been eating chicken wrong till now.” The all meat pizza right after was not to play with. It is to devour. Loaded with chicken, pork, lamb and generously layered with cheese, and yes, a glorious cheese pull that deserves its own slow-motion reel (DM for the clip). Hearty, indulgent, and ridiculously satisfying. Meat lovers, you’ll feel heard! Hands down, the best coffee I’ve had in Dehradun in my 9 years of being a Doonite and I do not say that lightly. Smooth, aromatic, nutty, perfectly balanced, and comforting in a way only mountain coffee can be. This cup alone is reason enough to make the trip. The interiors are warm, cozy, and thoughtfully done, cute and aesthetic. The vibe is slow, soulful, and inviting.
