If authentic Thai cuisine is on your wishlist, Hyderabad has an exciting new address. Baan Phadthai, the Bangkok restaurant that has earned the Michelin Bib Gourmand year after year, has opened its doors at Knowledge City, bringing the vibrant flavours of Thailand to the city. The restaurant recreates the warmth of a traditional Thai home, with earthy interiors, vintage-inspired décor, and a relaxed ambience that makes you feel as though you've stepped into a neighbourhood eatery in Bangkok rather than a restaurant in Hyderabad. The menu travels across Thailand, showcasing everything from Bangkok street food and Isaan specialities to Southern Thai curries and, of course, their signature Pad Thai. We started with the Thai Satay, where perfectly grilled skewers paired beautifully with a creamy peanut sauce. The Sai Krok Esan, a traditional fermented pork sausage from Thailand's Isaan region, was unlike anything I've tried in Hyderabad—smoky, tangy, and packed with character. For the mains, the Moo Hong was easily one of the highlights. This Phuket-style slow-braised pork belly, delicately flavoured with cinnamon, star anise, and aromatic spices, was melt-in-the-mouth and deeply comforting. No visit here would be complete without trying their signature Pad Thai Prawn, prepared with their house-made 18-ingredient sauce that delivers the perfect balance of sweet, sour, savoury, and nutty flavours. The mocktails deserve equal attention. Hom Mali, with toasted jasmine rice, plum, and coconut vinegar, was delicate and aromatic, while Som Tum, combining raw papaya, cucumber, green apple, Thai basil, and chilli oil, was refreshingly tropical with just the right hint of spice. What I appreciated most was that Baan Phad Thai doesn't dilute Thai flavours to suit local tastes. Instead, it stays true to the cuisine while making it approachable for diners looking to experience authentic Thailand. If you're searching for one of the best Thai restaurants in Hyderabad, this is definitely one to add to your list.
