For the first time in Hyderabad, Chennai’s celebrated Pan-Asian restaurant Soy Soi brings its distinctive Southeast Asian flavours to Zega through an exclusive chef-led popup by Chef Te Yuan Peter Tseng. This limited tasting menu is a carefully structured journey across Southeast Asia, blending street-inspired flavours with refined technique. The evening began with a refreshing Green Tea Jello Shot with hibiscus syrup and yuzu ice, setting the tone for what followed. The comforting Soto Ayam Madura, with turmeric-poached chicken, vermicelli noodles, and devilled egg, was a warm introduction to Indonesian flavours. Among the standout dishes was the iconic Lahpet Thoke, the Burmese tea leaf salad known for its complex interplay of textures from roasted gram dal, peanuts, and seeds. The delicate Xiaolong Bao, served with miso broth and chilli oil, showcased Soy Soi’s finesse with dumplings, while the Yellowtail Usuzukuri brought brightness and balance with yuzu and herb oil. From the grill, the Sate Ayam Bakar delivered smoky depth with sambal hijau and coconut notes, and the beautifully crisp Jasmine Tempura Prawns offered an unusual aromatic lift from jasmine tea. The slow-cooked Lamb Rendang with Roti Canai anchored the meal with deep, layered spice and richness, a classic Southeast Asian comfort dish elevated with precision. Dessert came in the form of the elegant Thap Thim Krop, featuring pandan chestnut rubies, coconut panna cotta, and jackfruit compote, refreshing yet indulgent.
