At Kanha Shantivanam near Hyderabad, food follows the same philosophy as the campus itself — simple, wholesome, balanced, and sattvic. Nothing feels excessive here; the focus is on nourishment rather than indulgence. While Pearl Hotel and the Wellness Centre restaurant have their own dining facilities, our favourite spot quickly became Suruchi Café. Large, economical, and comforting, it served the kind of food that leaves you feeling light yet completely satisfied. Multiple chai breaks through the day became a ritual, and the jalebi here was outstanding. Breakfast turned out to be a pleasant surprise — Ghee Dosa and freshly made parathas (aloo and onion), all priced under ₹100, proving that good food doesn’t have to be expensive. The canteen keeps things simple and efficient. Our ₹40 thali lunch was one of the most economical meals of the trip and a reminder that comfort food often needs no frills. And then comes the surprise element — an Italian restaurant inside the campus. Even here, the philosophy remains understated. We tried a Vegetarian Pizza, and its generous toppings and quality ingredients made for a very satisfying dinner. What I appreciated most was the inclusivity of the food ecosystem — whether you want budget-friendly comfort food or slightly more elaborate meals, there’s something for everyone.
