Mango Mania at Gulati, Gurugram: Where Innovation Meets Bliss There are restaurants that serve good food. Then there are those rare few that don't just serve food — they serve memories. Gulati has long been one of those institutions. With its origins firmly rooted in Pandara Road, New Delhi, the name has always been synonymous with "Great Indian Food." Now that they've opened in Gurugram, I decided it was time to revisit a classic — but this time, with a tropical twist. June in Delhi NCR is not for the faint-hearted. The sun shows no mercy, the traffic even less, and mangoes — ah, the mangoes — finally come into their own. Which brings me to Gulati's ongoing Mango Festival, a limited-time gastronomic celebration running from June 6 to 29, 2025. The promise? "Get ready for Mango Fiesta. Where innovation meets bliss!" Bold claim. I went to find out if it held up. First Impressions The Gurugram outlet is everything you'd expect from a Gulati — dignified elegance, a whiff of nostalgia, and the quiet hum of satisfaction from loyal patrons. But what caught my attention wasn't the ambiance. It was the bright yellow and orange signage teasing the Mango Festival — an invitation to experience mangoes like never before. And experience, I did. The Starters: Sweet Meets Savoury Now let’s be honest. When you hear "Mango Seekh Sangri," you’re bound to be sceptical. I was. Until the first bite. The sweetness of the mango played off the rustic umami of sangri and the spice of the seekh like an old Bollywood love triangle — complex, messy, but unforgettable. The Aam Ki Chaat Papdi and Mango Dahi Puchka were unapologetically playful — like Chandni Chowk took a summer vacation in Ratnagiri. Kesari Aam Paneer Tikka and Kesari Aam Chicken Tikka followed, each infused with the perfumed opulence of saffron and mango, grilled to a smoky, charred perfection. My palate was thrilled. My dietician would not be. The Mains: Mango as a Muse Now this is where Gulati really flexed its culinary muscles. Mango Chicken Curry was the kind of dish that made me wonder why this wasn't a year-round staple. The Mango Lassi Paneer and Aamras Aloo added depth and whimsy.
