A Night at Lynx: Gurugram's Newest BYOB Gem There's something wonderfully liberating about the BYOB concept. It's not just about bringing your own bottle—though that's part of the charm—it's about the freedom it represents. You choose your poison, they provide the experience. It's a partnership, if you will, between diner and restaurant. And at Lynx, Gurugram's newest dining destination, this partnership works rather well indeed. I'll confess I was initially skeptical. BYOB establishments can sometimes feel like they're cutting corners, using the bring-your-own-booze model to mask deficiencies elsewhere. But Lynx, I'm happy to report, is nothing of the sort. Step through its doors and you're immediately struck by the refinement of the space. This isn't some makeshift operation hoping to cash in on a licensing loophole. The ambience is carefully considered, the kind of place where you want to settle in for the evening and let time slip by unhurried. The evening I visited, a DJ was spinning tracks—peppy numbers, one after another, the sort that get your foot tapping without overwhelming conversation. It's a delicate balance, this business of live music in restaurants, and they've managed to strike it just right. The energy was palpable but not intrusive. You could still hear yourself think, which is more than can be said for many establishments these days. But here's what really matters: the service. I've always maintained that you can forgive a restaurant many sins if the staff genuinely wants you to have a good time. At Lynx, they do. From the moment you walk in, there's a warmth, an attentiveness that feels genuine rather than rehearsed. Your glass is never empty (well, you brought the bottle, but they ensure it's poured at precisely the right moments), and there's an easy professionalism that puts you at ease. Now, to the food. The menu leans comfortably North Indian and Chinese—not the most adventurous repertoire, you might say, but executed with enough care to make it worthwhile. The Chilli Chicken arrived with just the right amount of heat and crunch, the kind you find yourself reaching for again and again even when you're quite sure you're full.
