A Night at Marièta: Where Euro-Asian Soul Meets Gurugram Glamour There's something oddly reassuring about the fact that Gurugram—a city that didn't exist in any meaningful sense when I started writing about restaurants—now routinely produces dining destinations that wouldn't look out of place in London, Dubai, or Singapore. Marièta, tucked into Two Horizon, is the latest example of this phenomenon. This is Chaitanya Mathur's brainchild, and it's clear from the moment you walk in that considerable thought has gone into every aspect of the experience. The concept is ambitious: a Euro-Asian Kitchen and Bar , executed with the kind of polish that Gurugram's well-heeled clientele has come to expect. The Space The interiors work harder than they need to—but in a good way. Sage green dominates the color palette, providing a sophisticated backdrop for what is essentially a large-format space: over 100 seats spread between indoor and al fresco areas. The focal point is a striking mural personifying Marièta herself, a detail that gives the restaurant its sense of identity and narrative. There's a fluted bar, warm lighting that flatters everyone (never underestimate the importance of this), and a semi-private dining space for those who want the energy without being entirely in the thick of it. As evening gives way to night, the soundtrack shifts from relaxed tropical melodies to high-tempo Latin and Afro house—the kind of progression that signals a venue's ambition to be more than just a restaurant. The Food Now, here's where things get interesting. The menu is defiantly global. Pan-Asian dominates, with the kind of dishes that have become the lingua franca of upscale casual dining worldwide. I started with the Roasted Tomato & Basil Soup, served with a grilled cheese sandwich. It's comfort food, executed well. The soup was properly seasoned, the grilled cheese appropriately gooey—exactly what you'd want on a pleasant winter evening.
