Simply South has been constantly reinventing its menu offerings to its loyal patrons and the upcoming ‘Christmas in Kerala’ pop up from December 20th to 22nd (lunch & dinner, set menu including non alcoholic wine and plum cake) is yet another unique curation. The three day promotion showcases a typical Syrian Christian festive spread during Christmas and chef Chalapathi Rao has taken generous inputs from uber talented home chef Annie Reddy. Annie, if some of us might remember, was much applauded for her Onam menu at Simply South earlier this year. She has stuck to her family recipes like the Chicken cutlets served with Sallas (vinegared onions with green chillies), Appams with Mutton Ishtew, Duck Mappas with Idiyapam and Meen Vevichathu , seer fish cooked in a spicy and tangy Kokum red chilli base. The Karutha or black halwa from Kerala and the Achappam or rose cookies have been imported fr Kerala. The non alcoholic red violet wine was the most smashing so was the rum cake, again brought all the way from Kochi.
