Diwali 2024 celebrated at Novotel Hyderabad Airport will be etched in golden memories for more reasons than one. But first off, let me confess that given a chance, I would always prefer to celebrate Diwali at home, set up earthen (and candle) Diya’s, decorate the floor with marigold rangoli, light up some sparklers, have friends over for mithai and a scrumptious Diwali dinner. Of late, however, it has been a practice to pack our bags before Diwali and go to fresher climes (Arakku Valley, Bhubaneswar at my parents home with its abundant green cover or even the 10th floor hotel room in Hyderabad ) to get away from the smoke and dust to safeguard the hubby’s smoke-compromised lungs and on his pulmonologist’s advice. Like other populated localities in Hyderabad, in Srinagar Colony where we live, sometimes Diwali celebrations get out of hand with the smoke, fumes and noise pollution. Long story short, we parked ourselves at the lovely, lush green and oxygen-rich premises of Novotel Airport and boy! Was it a carnival, combining both peace and fun! Right from executive chef Amanna Raju showing me around their green and organic vegetable garden called The Patch ;will put up a reel shortly), the staff teaming up in the morning to put up rangoli and Diya’s to the sparkling mithai displays at the dinner buffet with the sweets themed around Diwali like Diya’s, phool jhari, anaar and bombs, to the joie de vivre of the in-house expats who looked thrilled to be lighting up the traditional lamp and lighting a few fireworks (noiseless ones) on the sprawling lawns, it was one jolly party! Adding an energetic vibe to the festivities were the young kabaddi team players of @upyoddhas staying at the hotel. Thank you @novotelhydairport for hosting our calming and yet festive staycation. If you are ever looking out for some peace and quiet, as well as some rejuvenative pampering, head yourselves to Novotel Airport.
