The Nubian Village was one of those places that caught me off guard in the best possible way. I’ve wandered through a lot of corners of Egypt, but stepping into this village felt like crossing into Africa within Africa — a whole different heartbeat from the rest of the country. 👉🏻 First thing you notice? Colour. Homes painted in bright blues, sunburst yellows, soft pinks, like someone decided joy should be visible from the river. The second thing you notice? Warmth. People greeting you with a smile that doesn’t feel practised or touristy… just real. 👉🏻 And then comes the part that makes every traveller do a double-take: crocodiles as pets. Small ones kept safely in enclosures, of course — something that’s been part of Nubian culture for ages. It’s one of those stories you hear and think, “Surely not,” until you’re standing right there, seeing it for yourself. 👉🏻 The village market is a whole adventure in itself. You’ll find Sudanese crafts, bold and earthy, sitting right next to saffron from Iran, hibiscus, handmade jewellery, and Nubian art that carries its own storytelling. What I loved most was how completely different it felt from Cairo, Luxor, and Aswan — all beautiful in their own way, but this place had an identity that stood tall and proud. A little wild, a little whimsical, and incredibly soulful. #nubianvillage #experienceegypt #visitegypt #visitaswan #aswan_egypt #travelwithkrazybutterfly
