𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗡𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗸 𝗔𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗩𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻? 𝗕𝗲𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗸 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀! Can you think of that one leader who 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗱 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘀𝗮𝘄 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗽𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹? While other managers were busy pointing out what you were doing wrong, this person kept asking questions like "𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝗶𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁?" or "𝗬𝗼𝘂'𝗿𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗴𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 - 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽?" At first, you probably thought they were just being nice. But they kept pushing, kept seeing something in you that you honestly couldn't see in yourself at the time. They didn't just tell you that you had potential - they created opportunities for you to discover it. The difference was striking. Instead of trying to impress you with their grand strategic vision, 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗯𝘀𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀. Your one-on-ones became about what excited you, what you wanted to build, where you saw yourself making an impact. Now you realize what they were doing. They weren't just managing you - 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗱𝗶𝗱𝗻'𝘁 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲. You see managers all the time who think leadership is about having the biggest vision in the room. But the leaders people actually follow? They're the ones who help you see a bigger version of yourself than you ever imagined. That's the real insight here: "𝗔 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿'𝘀 𝗩𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗜𝘀𝗻'𝘁 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗦𝗲𝗲, 𝗜𝘁'𝘀 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗛𝗲𝗹𝗽 𝗢𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗦𝗲𝗲 𝗜𝗻 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗺𝘀𝗲𝗹𝘃𝗲𝘀." If you want people to follow you, stop showing them how impressive your vision is.
