My guide mentioned that Gyumri is known as the 'City of a Thousand Doors'. While I'm not sure if that's an exact number, I did encounter several beautiful doors during my stroll along the cobblestone paths. 👉🏻 The doors were intricately carved and painted, and they added to the city's unique charm. I especially liked the way the doors were often set back from the street, creating a sense of mystery and intrigue. 👉🏻 The tradition of making wooden doors dates back to the 19th century when Gyumri was a major centre of trade and commerce. The city's artisans were known for their skill in woodworking, and they produced a wide variety of doors to meet the needs of the city's residents. There are also a number of shops in Gyumri that sell wooden doors, both new and old. Gyumri has been rebuilt several times after being destroyed by earthquakes, and the wooden doors are a reminder of Gyumri's long and rich history.
