The sun had just set behind the horizon, and the streets of Amritsar were bustling with the chatter of citizens going about their day. As the crowds thinned, the atmosphere became eerily still. Little did they know that this peaceful evening would soon turn into a tragic massacre. 👉🏻 On April 13th, 1919, hundreds of unarmed people had gathered at Jallianwala Bagh to peacefully protest against the British. 👉🏻 As the protestors raised their voices in unison, they were quickly silenced when General Dyer and his troops opened fire on them. 👉🏻 The screams of terror pierced the air as the people desperately tried to escape the killing fields, only to be blocked off by the soldiers. 👉🏻 In the blink of an eye, thousands of innocent lives were taken away, leaving a mark of despair and horror in the minds of the survivors. 👉🏻 To this day, Jallianwala Bagh stands as a reminder of the atrocities committed by the British, and of the resilience of the Indian people in the face of injustice. 👉🏻 As I walked around Jallianwala Bagh, I couldn't help but feel a heavy sadness envelop me. It's hard to think that this place was once the site of such a horrific tragedy.
