My second visit to the Golden Temple in Amritsar was a walk down memory lane, taking me back some 20 years when I had first arrived with my family. 👉🏻 Even though my travels this time were limited to the outside of the temple, the beautiful architecture and tranquil atmosphere still made me feel like I had stepped into an alternate realm! 👉🏻 Even this time, as I meandered around the temple, I was humbled by its grandeur. The intricate carvings and the shimmering gold dome will simply take your breath away. 👉🏻 Maharaja Ranjit Singh, the founder of the Sikh Empire, had a vision of grandeur that he brought to life in 1809. He constructed the Golden temple out of marble and copper and gave it an even more majestic touch in 1830 when he overlaid the sanctum with luxurious gold leaf. It is this lavish approach that has earned it the title of the Golden Temple. 👉🏻 As you look upon the tranquil lake that surrounds the temple, you will be filled with a sense of peacefulness. And of course, the delicious langar – free meals served to the devotees and visitors alike – are an absolute delight! The peaceful aura of the temple is palpable and I felt a sense of tranquility surrounding me. I spent two hours in the temple, taking in its beauty and reflecting on the serenity of the atmosphere. I was so moved by the experience that I am already planning my next visit to the Golden Temple! Have you been to the golden temple?
