ADHD is full of contradictions, and this one feels a little too real. Interrupting isn’t always intentional. Sometimes a thought comes in fast, urgent, and feels like it’ll disappear if it’s not said immediately. It’s not about being rude, it’s about how quickly ADHD thoughts move and how hard they can be to hold onto. But when it happens the other way around, it can feel completely different. Getting interrupted can feel jarring, frustrating, and even personal. It breaks the flow, makes it harder to get back to what was being said, and can trigger that feeling of not being heard or valued. Especially when holding onto thoughts already takes effort. That’s the contradiction. The same behaviour can feel so different depending on which side of it you’re on. ADHD isn’t just about attention, it’s also about impulse control, working memory, and emotional regulation. Thoughts move quickly, timing doesn’t always line up, and conversations can feel harder to navigate than they look from the outside. It’s not about intention, it’s about how the brain processes and responds in the moment. If this felt a bit too relatable, you’re not the only one.
