Looking back, a lot of late diagnosed ADHDers realise the signs were there long before adulthood, they just weren’t recognised for what they actually were. At school, ADHD does not always look like “disruptive behaviour.” Sometimes it looks like being called distracted, too talkative, forgetful, messy, emotional, inconsistent, or “not applying yourself properly.” Some common school signs of ADHD that often get overlooked: • being labelled “too chatty” or easily distracted • leaving revision until the last minute and relying on panic to focus • constantly fidgeting, moving, or struggling to sit still • mentally repeating things over and over because you were scared you’d forget them A lot of ADHDers grew up thinking these were personality flaws instead of signs of a brain that processes attention, memory, and motivation differently. Especially for girls, inattentive ADHD is often missed because the struggle is happening internally, overthinking, masking, zoning out, people pleasing, or trying extra hard to compensate. 💛 What was your biggest school sign looking back?
