As a kid Ganesh puja and Saraswati puja are always special. I used to wait for these 2 festivals since you are not allowed to study & relax from studies. Happiness of wearing new clothes to flaunt in front of friends. I used to wake up early collect flowers and make garlands for the Puja. Since I studied in Kendriya Vidyalaya there was no Ganpati celebration in my school. So used to look out for options of giving Puspanjali (Offering flowers to Lord Ganesh) after this ritual only we are allowed to break the fast & can jump into prasad. In Odisha if I talk about Ganesh puja then Chuda Ghasa prasad is an emotion. This humble prasad is a simple grinded mixture of Beaten rice/Rice Flakes/Poha, sugar/jaggery, grated coconut, ghee, spiced with black pepper, cardamom & edible camphor & complimented with addition of different kind of fruits, boondi & Rasi ladoo. The beauty of this prasad is the process of making it. I used to do my offering at my Maths tuitions where each student was assigned with different tasks of prasad making. Few students are allowed to chop fruits and some are involved in the important process of making chuda ghasa i.e Ghasa which means to Rub. So the grinded beaten rice need to rubbed between the palms so as to infuse the flavors of ghee, spices and sugar. Why I said chuda ghasa is an emotion because it used to be an community engaging process where known & unknown people from different aspects of life used to sit together for making this prasad in bulk and talk, share lighter moments & support each other. I feel nostalgic while writing about it since now things are little changed. Most of the places this traditional flattened rice dessert is replaced by modern day sweets. #chudaghasa #sweetflattenedricepowder #ganeshpuja2025 #pujanostalgia #traditionalodiadish #odiaculture #ganeshchaturthi #rasiladoo #seuboondi #pujasweets #foodreel #foodvideo #foodstoryteller
