Nowadays Zero waste cooking is trending but this isn't not a new concept rather our grandmother's & great grandmother's practicing this by using peels of different vegetables since long but we had forgotten it somewhere. ▪︎Consuming fruits & vegetables high in water content is essential during these extreme heat waves to keep the water hydrated & balance ions inside our body. ▪︎We consume watermelons during summer & mostly discard watermelon rind as soon as we eat the delicious red pulp inside, but considering what a dense source of nutrients that rind represents, you might want to save the rinds & add them to your diet. The rind contains a large amount of the nutrients, yet most people simply throw the rinds into the garbage without a second thought. Even though I used to do the same but a few years back when I discovered these rinds are edible as well as nutritious, I developed a few recipes which I shared in my story highlights. Check out my last post to make a delicious non veg dish from this watermelon rind. ▪︎They contain even higher concentrations of certain antioxidants, minerals, vitamins, & active ingredients. ●This tough rind contains low levels of calories, but high concentrations of vitamin C, vitamin A, vitamin B6, potassium, & zinc, among others. ●Watermelon rind is also nutrient dense with chlorophyll, citrulline, lycopene, amino acids, and flavonoids and phenolic compounds. #tarabhuja #zerowaste #watermelonrind #rind #watermelons #summervegetable #summerfruits #reelitfeelit #foodreels #foodstory #reelsinsta #reelsinstagram
