▪︎Due to thunderstorm a Gulmohar tree fell down inside the Infocity campus. Baba (Father) remembered I cooked a few dishes from its flower and buds, so he brought a bunch of this flower. Though I had no plans to document it again due to my tight schedule but it all happened due to the above reason. It tastes tangy and little fruity in taste & yes they are edible and consumed in northern parts of India. Few locations in Bhubaneswar have this ornamental tree as avenue plantation which starts flowering from April till June creating a flamboyant display of orange-red flowers over summer. ▪︎Botanically called as Delonix regia. Commonly named as FLAME TREE due to its appearance (one of several species given this name). ▪︎Some people believe that Jesus Christ was crucified next to this tree & his blood was shed over the flowers, giving them their flame-coloured petals. ▪︎Interestingly enough, flowers are also called as Royal Peacock flower & in Odia known as "KRUSHNACHUDA"(since peacock feather is crowned in lord Krishna's hair). BENEFITS: ▪︎Royal poinciana is well known for its beautiful flowers but its leaves, stems & flowers have antibacterial and antimicrobial properties which have been used as an effective cure for arthritis and constipation. ▪︎Flowers has significant amount of phenol & flavonoids. ▪︎Phenol helps to disinfect skin & to relieve itching. ▪︎Its flower consisted of high amount of anthocyanins pigment which are a type of flavonoid, a plant metabolite with antioxidant effects. #gulmohar #peacockflower #royalpoinciana #krushnachuda #summerflowers #flametree #bloomsofindia #flowersofindia #flowerofgames #childhoodmemories #nostalgia #roostergames #witchnails #flameoftheforest #summervibes #mayflowers #redflowers #reelsinstagram #reelkarofeelkaro #reeltrending
