The words we grew up hearing become the words that come out automatically. But small language shifts change what a child learns about themselves. Instead of “That’s not right” → “Show me your way.” Instead of “Be careful” → “Trust yourself, you’ve got this.” Instead of “Let me do it” → “Try first, I’m right here.” Instead of “Good girl / Good boy” → “You stayed with that even when it got hard.” Instead of “Why did you do it like that?” → “Tell me what you were thinking.” Instead of “Stop, that’s not how it works” → “Interesting — what made you try it that way?” Instead of “Hurry up” → “Take the time you need.” Instead of “Don’t cry” → “It’s okay to feel that. I’m here.” Instead of “You should know better” → “Let’s figure out together what happened.” Instead of “Because I said so” → “The boundary is this — and I’ll explain why.” Instead of “Stop arguing” → “I hear you. The answer is still no.” Instead of “Why can’t you just listen?” → “Let me come closer and say this once.” Save this. Come back to it on the hard days. Which one do you need to work on most? Tell me in the comments. . . . . . . #indianparenting #positiveparenting #gentleparenting #childdevelopment #consciousparenting
