I told my 6 month old I was leaving. He won’t remember the words. But I said them anyway. Because I needed to say them. We’re headed for a trip — part work, part family time, and honestly a chance for us to reconnect with our 6 year old. Meanwhile, I know in my heart, he will be safe, loved, and held by people who adore him. And in future there will be many trips that he will be a part of that she won’t. Leaving a little one behind — even for a few days — sits heavy. It just does. My older one grew up during COVID. No trips, no people, no world outside our four walls. And now I’m raising a second baby in a completely different era — one where life is moving again, loudly. Two children. Two completely different childhoods. And me — just trying to figure out how to show up fully for both of them. To every parent who raised their baby through COVID and is now navigating this new world with another little one — how are you juggling it all?
