President Donald Trump also faced criticism for comments many considered racist or disrespectful towards India, adding pressure to Rubio’s trip, which was focused on trade, defence, and Quad cooperation. Indian social media users also pointed out that since Rubio described people making racist remarks against Indians as “stupid,” it indirectly meant that Trump himself was being called “stupid” for his alleged remarks against India. After the incident, many Americans expressed anger on social media, with some even threatening not to support Trump and Rubio in future elections.
