Because of this, scientists cannot say with certainty that eating foods containing acrylamide causes cancer in humans, but they also cannot completely rule out a potential risk. India has no law equivalent to California’s Proposition 65, so the same warning is generally not required on products sold in India. Bottom line: The warning exists because of a California legal requirement—not because Maggi has been proven to cause cancer. It is a precautionary disclosure based on current scientific evidence, where animal data is stronger than human evidence.
