Qotd: What was your favourite summer activity as a child? 😄 . #rishireviews : A Mystery At Lili Villa by Arathi Menon A Mystery At Lili Villa is a middle-grade book that narrates the tale of three cousins and the adventure they go on during their summer vacation. Tam is staying over at Lili Villa visiting her cousins Arj & Mira in Elathoor, Kerala for her summer vacation. A vacation that Tam thinks is going to be boring with them just laying around the house and nothing to do suddenly turns interesting when a robbery occurs at Lili Villa promoting the trio to put on their detective hats to find out who the thief is. They've made a list of suspects and the rest of the story follows the many adventures they go on to find out who it the robber is. . Come summer holidays me and my mom would pack our bags and get on the train to go to my maternal grandparents for our annual trip. It was the only reason I looked forward to summer every year. Various instances in this book reminded me of those summers. All the food and snacks my granny made to ensure that my cousin and I were always fed. The evening trips to the beach to watch the sunset and snack on the various tidbits sold by the vendors there. And all the games and adventures cooked up with my cousin and friends to pass our time, everything from hopscotch, to galli cricket, to piling our chairs in a line and pretending we were on a train. What this book also brought to my mind was the one time me and a "best friend" of mine decided we were going to become detectives and solve all the mysteries in our colony. Much like Tam and her cousins we whizzed around on our bikes with a notebook and pencil tucked into the back, you know to note all our findings. Ah, the good old days! . A Mystery At Lili Villa is a short and sweet read that is sure to bring about sweet memories of childhood summers. Not only did it take me down memory lane but also helped me learn more about the beautiful place that is Kerala and all of its yummy food. If you were/are a fan of Enid Blyton's books then you must pick this up. 😄 . A huge thank you to @lonelypagesbooktours for hosting the blog tour and for providing me with a gifted copy. 🤗
