I just dropped some truth about swaddling that goes against everything you’ve been told. And honestly? I’m prepared for the backlash. But here’s what I can’t stay quiet about anymore... The 2022 American Academy of Pediatrics guidelines found NO evidence that swaddling reduces SIDS risk. Yet we’re still told it’s essential for EVERY baby. Meanwhile, tight swaddling around the hips is linked to developmental dysplasia. And we’re potentially preventing babies from naturally integrating the very reflexes they need to develop. If you DO need to swaddle (for babies with truly excessive startle reflexes), do it right: arms snug to calm the reflex, but loose around the hips so legs can move freely, and STOP the moment they show signs of rolling. And those gorgeous muslin swaddles you have? (I have a few too - they’re so beautiful! 😍) Use them as: ✨ Nursing covers ✨ Stroller shade ✨ Tummy time blankets ✨ Comfort objects for toddlers ✨ Light blankets for older babies (12+ months) TAG YOUR PARTNER - you both need to see this before tonight’s bedtime routine. The question isn’t whether swaddling is good or bad. It’s whether YOU’RE making decisions based on your individual baby’s needs... or just following what everyone else does. Your baby is unique. Your approach should be too. Comment ‘BABY’ if you want to learn how to read your baby’s unique developmental cues . . . . . . #BabyTruth #ParentingReality #EvidenceBasedParenting #NewParents #BabyDevelopment #ParentingEducation #MoroReflex
