Russian daredevil couple Angela Nikolau (Angelina Nikolau) and Ivan Beerkus (Ivan Kuznetsov), stars of Netflix’s Skywalkers: A Love Story, allegedly bought tickets to the Empire State Building, hid inside the building overnight, and climbed the restricted 1,454-foot antenna before sunrise. At the top, they unfurled a banner reading, “When the power of love beats the love of power, the world knows peace,” took selfies, shared a kiss, and Ivan Beerkus proposed to Angela Nikolau, who accepted. The stunt prompted a major NYPD response involving drones, helicopters and emergency officers, while the building’s broadcast antenna was temporarily shut down. After descending, the couple was arrested and charged with burglary, reckless endangerment, criminal trespass, criminal mischief, criminal tampering, possession of burglar’s tools and other offences.
