Life is hard, but at least I'm not a bad manager who micromanages grown adults out of insecurity. You know the type. They need to approve every email. They question every decision. They schedule check-ins on check-ins because they don't trust their team to do the work they were hired to do. Micromanagement isn't management. It's control disguised as leadership. And it doesn't come from caring about quality. It comes from insecurity. Fear of losing control. Fear of not being needed. Fear that if the team succeeds without them, they become irrelevant. Good managers hire smart people and get out of their way. Bad managers hire smart people and then treat them like they can't be trusted. If you're constantly being micromanaged, it's not a reflection of your competence. It's a reflection of theirs. And if you're a manager reading this, ask yourself: are you leading or controlling? Are you developing your team or suffocating them? Your team doesn't need you to watch their every move. They need you to remove obstacles, provide clarity, and trust them to execute. Micromanagement kills morale, creativity, and retention. Leadership builds all three. Comment YES to join my free community for strategies on knowing your worth and getting paid for it.
