The same night I had my accident, I had a prospect meeting scheduled. I typed the postpone email. Read it. Stared at it. And then deleted it. I told myself it’s 15 minutes, just show up. That 15-minute call turned into 2 hours. I closed the deal on the spot. People called it madness. But that one decision defined my entire year. Here’s what I learned. Opportunities don’t reschedule themselves. Great conversations don’t repeat. And people remember the ones who show up when it would’ve been completely reasonable not to. I’m not telling you to grind 24/7 or ignore your health. But I am telling you this. Showing up at 20% when it matters beats sitting out at 100% when it’s comfortable. If you’re trying to switch roles, rebuild your career, or finally make that leap, your goals need to matter more than your excuses. Not in a toxic way. In a “I’ll do this one thing today even though everything feels hard” way. The July version of me could’ve easily sent that email and gone to bed. But the November version of me only exists because she didn’t. Sometimes your comeback starts with one decision to show up when nobody expects you to.
