You checked every box. The salary. The title. The company name. So why does it feel like something is missing? I’ve been there. Fresh out of college, I thought landing the right job would be the answer to everything. It wasn’t. The first few months in corporate hit me with a feeling I wasn’t prepared for. This isn’t what I thought it would be. And the scariest part wasn’t the realization itself. It was the guilt. How do you explain to people that you got everything you wanted and you’re still not fulfilled? What I wish someone told me back then is this. Purpose isn’t a one time discovery. It’s something you build, grow into, and eventually outgrow. And when you outgrow it, that emptiness isn’t a sign that you failed. It’s a sign that you’ve evolved past the version of yourself that made those original plans. Your goals at 22 were made by a 22 year old. You’re not that person anymore. Expecting those same goals to fulfill you today is like wearing shoes you outgrew three sizes ago and wondering why it hurts. Careers aren’t straight lines. They need alignment, then realignment, then realignment again. As long as you’re learning and adjusting, you’re not stuck. You’re moving. The only real danger is refusing to change direction just because something used to feel right. You’re not lost. You’re just becoming someone your old plans didn’t account for. Save this for when you need it. Share it with someone going through this. Comment “YES” to join my free community where 100K+ professionals are navigating this together (link in bio). . . .
