We started measuring it in brands, achievements, aesthetics, success and validation. We tell ourselves that when we achieve enough, we’ll finally feel content. But some places remind you that peace was never something to earn. Every time I sit at the Golden Temple in Amritsar, surrounded by thousands of people, I feel still. It’s one of the busiest places you’ll ever step into, yet there’s a calm there that settles inside you. Maybe that’s what the saying really means. When your heart is quiet, everything feels beautiful again. If you ever visit India, go there. There is no other place so busy and yet so peaceful at the same time.
