I promise you, India is so much more than the Golden Triangle. Most travellers land in Delhi, rush through Jaipur and Agra, and think they’ve “done India.” But if you get overwhelmed easily (ADHD, sensory overload, or just not a chaos-loving person), North India can hit you like a sensory explosion. And I say this as someone who grew up in North India and lived there for 18 years, even I find it a lot sometimes 😅 My friends from Britain came to visit me and every single one of them agreed: North India overwhelmed them within the first 24 hours. So here’s an alternative: 🌿 Start in the North East: Meghalaya, Shillong, Arunachal Pradesh. Soft, green, calm, and incredibly welcoming. 🌊 Or start in the South: Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu. Gentle, stunning, culturally rich, without the intensity of the North. Once you settle into the rhythm of India, then explore the louder, faster parts such Jaipur or Varanasi. They’re beautiful and unforgettable… just not the easiest introduction. India isn’t one experience, it’s many. Start where it feels right for you, not where the tourist blogs tell you to.
