Meeting my best friend after 7–8 months and touring Mussoorie, a place that witnessed our college days in Dehradun, felt like coming back to a part of myself. Gun Hill Point brought back familiar silences and shared memories. The ropeway view, the winter air, the stillness before sunset, everything felt unchanged, while we clearly were. Yet the comfort was the same. Perhaps that is what lasting friendship truly means. Hopping from one cafe to another, pausing for laphing, gagging over the winterline to picking up small souvenirs, the 5 hour trip was not about ticking places off a list. It was about presence. About revisiting moments that shaped us and realising how quietly they continue to influence who we become. Swami Vivekananda believed youth was a force of inner strength and resilience, not merely a phase of life. Maybe that strength lives in friendships that survive time, distance, and silence. Maybe it lives in returning to old paths with new understanding.
