It's not everyday you visit a historical place of great reverence that too when it is WORLD'S HIGHEST LORD SHIVA TEMPLE. 🕉️ An 8km trek (4 up and 4 down) although tiring but the views of dusk was priceless. We visited the temple twice, one on the day we reached for Sandhyarati and the following day for puja at early morning. We howled at each other almost all the time except when I'm clicking decent pictures/videos lol but that's the fun. Just a brief history lesson here, Tungnath mandir is one of the Panch Kedar temples, that was built by the Pandavas to wash off their sins after the Kurukshetra war of Mahabharata. The temple depicts Lord Shiva transforming into a Shila or a holy stone that's actually the arms of him when he goes deep inside Earth.
