✨ Celebrated my 27th birthday in Kolkata with my parents yesterday, because my home is the only place here where I can feel every light, flavour, and memory in the city. ✨ When your birthday falls in between Kali Pujo and Diwali festivities you know it's a divine concoction. Maa prepped “Niramish Mangsho” (yes, the irony still cracks me up haha but it's Bhoger Maangsho or what's generally offered to Maa which has no onion and garlic), followed by Topshe fry, Fulkopi macher jhal, and a whole array of Bengali delicacies that could make even the Gods skip their prasad. And of course, the cake, a decadent fondant chocolate delight from Just Baked, was the cherry on top making the traditions soar high. Spent a quiet golden evening on the terrace, soaking in the serenity of mom’s garden, her most prized possession, where every leaf and flower seems to grow with her love and scolding equally. Later, lighted 14 diyas for the ancestors… not sure which one actually smiled down, but hey, it’s the thought (and the flicker) that counts!
