BMW will launch the long-wheelbase i5 electric sedan in India by early 2026, assembled locally in Chennai. The India-spec model will be the eDrive40L, with a 340hp RWD setup and a 97kWh battery, offering lower range than the China-rated 713km. BMW has increased ground clearance for Indian roads, causing a delay in launch. Positioned between the 530Li and i5 M60, the i5 LWB will help fill the gap left by the discontinued 5 Series diesel. With 5% EV GST and local assembly, pricing is expected at ₹90 lakh–₹1 crore. BMW aims to attract buyers with comfort, refinement and electric luxury, #bmwi5lwb #BMW
