The Sunderbans may be home to the majestic Royal Bengal Tiger, but spotting one here is very difficult. The dense mangrove forests, muddy tidal creeks, and the tiger’s elusive nature make every sighting incredibly rare. Honestly, when I went, I didn’t think my luck would be that great. But I guess Goddess Bonbibi was watching over me. And then it happened. Not from a boat. Not across a river. We had climbed up a watch tower when we saw him. He was calmly drinking water from the sweet water lake. A slightly injured, Gondar. I’ve seen tigers in the wild several times before, but the excitement never changes. Every single sighting feels like the first time. What an unbelievably magnificent animal.
