For our Dol special episode, we bring to you Ghee Poa, a unique mishti that is available only during this time of the year. Interestingly, Ghee Poa is found only in one particular area of the city - Bowbazar. You won’t find it anywhere else. The recipe of Ghee Poa was created by the founder of the original Naba Krishna Guin on Hidaram Banerjee Street in Bowbazar. Also known as Holi Poa, it is made only around this time for just 2–3 weeks. It was first introduced at Naba Krishna Guin, after which other shops in the area began making it as well. At one point, they had stopped making Ghee Poa for nearly 10 years. But with the closing down of New Naba Krishna Guin on Nirmal Chunder Street, they have once again started making this rare and much-loved mishti.
