In a significant operation, India's National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested six Ukrainian nationals and one American citizen on charges of conspiring to carry out terrorist activities against India. The suspects were detained at airports in Delhi, Kolkata, and Lucknow after entering the country on valid visas but violating regulations by traveling to restricted areas in Mizoram and crossing into Myanmar without proper permits. Investigations revealed that the group allegedly met with ethnic armed groups in Myanmar hostile to India, providing them with training in weapons handling and drone operations. They are accused of illegally importing drones from Europe, which were shipped to Mizoram and then supplied to these groups to support proscribed Indian insurgent organizations through arms and logistical aid. Acting on intelligence inputs, the NIA coordinated the arrests last week and registered a case under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. A Delhi court has remanded the seven individuals to 11 days of custody until March 27 to allow further interrogation, evidence collection, and analysis of their communications and funding sources.
