The short answer is: No! But the longer answer is a bit more nuanced: You can absolutely come as a complete beginner, which can make more sense if you plan to stay for 2–3 months or longer. However, while being a beginner in martial arts or Shaolin Kung Fu is totally fine, I wouldn’t recommend being a complete beginner when it comes to sports in general. I was used to CrossFit, and still my body was in pain for almost three weeks straight—the good kind of pain from working out… It helps a lot to do some strength training before you come, and even more importantly: start stretching regularly. This will save you time once you’re here and speed up your progress significantly. It also helps to at least have a basic understanding of how to punch and kick. AND: get your knees stronger before coming. There are plenty of workouts on YouTube, this recommendation is a personal one 😁 A few boxing or Muay Thai classes can be very useful, just to learn how to throw a straight punch 😅 So, do you need experience? No. But would I recommend preparing? Definitely. In the end, it’s up to you—and how hard you want it to be ;) . . . #shaolin #kungfu #kungfuschool #materialarts #shaolinkungfu Shaolin , shaolin Kung fu , KungFu school , kung fu
