What nobody tells you about Kung Fu schools: Progress is built on repetition. You repeat, and repeat, and repeat again—but if you truly pay attention, everything becomes your teacher, even doing the same things over and over. For someone like me, who is very impatient, this is a powerful lesson. Not an unexpected one, though. I knew this would be part of the process, but I didn’t realize how much it would challenge me. Still, giving up is not an option. I try to enjoy myself in this challenge; even when it’s the same form again in Tai Chi, after a long day of training.
