Life changed for both of us and our relationship changed too. I’ve been bossing him around since the day he was born — deciding what he wears, what toy be plays with and more. He was my “first baby” before I ever became a mom. Some of my interesting memories are when he was born and I was constantly told not to touch him, lift him…and so on. So one day I decided to carry him and run away from home. At 3, you don’t believe in logical reasoning! Luckily, I was traced in the neighbourhood and my parents allowed me to play with him from then on. I left them with no choice, they always had to see things my way ;)! Another one, when he didn’t share his toys with me and tried to physically fight me. How could I take bullying ? So at 5 years, I gave it back to him. So much so, that the poor guy( 2 then) couldn’t open his eye for one day. I supported feminism even then! I felt that he was my whole and sole and protected him like my child. Then, one day, he grew up, he wasn’t just my little brother anymore. He became someone’s husband. Someone’s father. And just like that, my place in his life shifted. No one tells you how weird it feels when the kid you raised starts raising his own kids. Or when the sibling who once ran to you for every problem now runs to someone else first. It took me time and advise from mom, to understand that relationship dynamics change overtime, they don’t disappear, they just evolve. Today, I don’t fight for the same space in his life… I value the space I do have. And every Rakhi, no matter how busy we are, I still see glimpses of that little boy who once thought I was his whole world💛 Tell me in the comments — how has your bond with your sibling changed over the years? #SiblingLove #BrotherAndSister #SiblingStories #FamilyBonds #IndianSiblings #GrowingUpTogether #RakshabandhanFeels
