Why the ear? The ear is rich in sensory nerves that communicate directly with the nervous system. it is also an atomically connected to the jaw neck and upper back. Gentle touch here sends a signal of safety to the brain. This area is closely linked to unexpressed emotions — especially anger, grief, and things we never got to say. Exercise 1: Gently Twisting The Ear With the first exercise, hold your ear and slowly massage it, moving clockwise and anti-clockwise. Slow, repetitive movement helps: – Interrupt chronic tension patterns – Soften jaw clenching without forcing it – Bring awareness back into the body Exercise 2: Ear Stretching + Humming + Neck Lift In the second exercise, stretch (VERY GENTLY) the ear down while humming and gently lifting the neck. This combination is so powerful. – Humming creates vibration, which activates the vagus nerve – Vibration shifts the body into a calmer, regulated state – Stretching the ear adds sensory input – Lifting the neck opens the jaw–upper back –neck pathway #somaticmovement
