I always take the first bite of the food I cook. It sounds small, but it’s not. I’ve grown up hearing that the person who cooks should serve everyone else first that it’s respectful, that it’s manners. But somewhere, I wanted to unlearn that. When I cook, I put in time, patience, care, and a little bit of myself. So this one bite the very first one is my way of pausing and feeding myself too.
