Growing up as a Marwari girl in Kolkata, sports just… weren’t part of my world. So when I found myself standing on a snowy slope in Gulmarg with @gulmargskiclub — skis strapped on, heart racing — I genuinely couldn’t believe I was there. I won’t lie. I was terrified. I’ve never been the athletic one. Not even a little. So this felt wildly ambitious. But also? Strangely exciting. Because, I’ve come to realise that learning something new — truly new — has this beautiful way of keeping you young. Not just in body, but in mind. A few years ago, I picked up swimming. A few days ago, I got on a cycle. And now… skis. 😅 Not because I had some transformation and suddenly became sporty. But because I made a quiet decision to stop telling myself — “that’s not for someone like me.” And honestly? My kids were watching. That matters more than anything. They saw me try something completely out of my comfort zone. They saw me fall. And they saw me get back up — a little wobbly, but determined. They might not remember the skiing when they grow up. But I hope they remember that their mom questioned the rules she was handed. That she never stopped being curious. That she tried — even when she wasn’t sure she could. And maybe, that they had a “cool mom”. Here’s the thing I keep coming back to: No matter where you are in life, you’ll always wish you’d started something sooner. That’s just human nature. But today? Today is the youngest you will ever be again. So whatever your something is — start today. You owe it to yourself. Tell me — what’s one thing you really wish to learn.
